The
Netcentric Community is designed to help pioneers on the new frontier
of netcentric computing and communications to understand this
expanding world better and move around in it efficiently. Our
first offering is a collection of pages that contain graphical,
XML/Java-based maps based on a new principle for navigating the
hyperspace frontier. These maps connect ideas in much the same
way that people think - that is, by association.
The
Web has grown from a few thousand web sites in the mid-90s to
literally millions today. The old model of navigation based on
browser-based search engines is obsolete and simply doesn't work
anymore. If you can't think of the right key word you can't find
what you want, and even if you do find the right key word then
you get tons of things you don't want. Search engines can't
identify contexts. Using a new type of engine in which
you are able to filter your search by going from the general to
the particular - electronics to automobiles to control systems
to standards to CAN, you get where you are going directly and
speedily. What's more, possible directions are presented to you
that may suggest topic areas you hadn't thought of, yet they will
be on target for the area you are exploring.
We
are initially offering three maps: the Electronic Engineering
Times (EETimes) In Focus technical article archives for the years
1999 to 2001, a map of In Focus articles for current year that
will be updated regularly, and a map of the iApplianceweb.com
web site, an EET Online Community focused on netcentric iappliance
design and development. Instructions for using the maps will be
included on each page. You'll be pleased with how easy it is.
In
Focus maps are available now: iAppliance
Web, Current
In Focus Articles (2002), In
Focus Archives (1999-2001), and Technical
News Web Sites. Book mark this page and come back
(when you come back, if you don't see any changes click
the refresh
button on your browser), or send us an e-mail and we will
let you know when we add new content. To foil the spam bots that
